My name is Evynn Smith and I have always been passionate about traveling the world, exploring beautiful gardens and photography. My family and I travel to far off places each summer with camera, lenses and film in tow. Our most exciting trip was to Kenya, Africa where we spent 10 days on safari. Each morning before sunrise and each late afternoon, we would head out on our private safari, exploring the vast landscape and all its amazing wildlife.
When I am not traveling, I am visiting my favorite gardens. Each time I walk through a garden, I am in awe by the many colors, textures, movement and aromas surrounding me. Today, 85% of Earth's 300,000+ species of plants are flowering plants, from the tiniest grasses to giants like the coast live oak. Flowers mean many things-beauty, spring, color, joy, pollinators, food-but they are also largely responsible for the richness, variety and abundance of all life on Earth. Nature is forever changing. Each image captured from nature on film can never be duplicated. That is where my love for photography and nature mesh together as one.
A technique I call "Photo-Impressionism" allows me to shoot a photograph that resembles an impressionistic painting. It can accentuate the colors, textures and movement giving a dramatic and abstract dimension to the photograph.
I only shoot 35mm film and all of my photographs have been developed directly from the negative and not enhanced or corrected in any way. No computers, no "Photo Shop".
I hope you will enjoy my photo gallery!
